Deitch Projects presented an exhibition of all 131 of Jason Schmidt’s artist portraits featured in his book, Artists, which had been recently published by Edition 7L / Steidl. A wide range of artists were included in the project from established figures such as Marina Abramovic and Ed Ruscha to emerging artists like Dan Colen and Jim Drain. Each of the 131 artist portraits exhibited is its own self-contained world, specific to the artist’s mythology and methodology that inform and ultimately become their art.
